spring fever!!

hello all! so much has happened for us lately. it has been a long time since i've updated the site, but i haven't had the time. we are enjoying the nicer weather and the kids love being able to be on their bikes again. the park is something we go to everyday, and there are no complaints on their end.

You will also see that the kids love baking! we are now allergy free!!! thanks to the AAT allergy removal procedures. it's fantastic and liberating! watching the kids enjoy cupcakes and chocolate takes my breath away! they are so happy and thankful :)

we are looking forward to summer and hope to see everyone soon! take care!

finally and updated website!!!

wow. so much has happened in our lives! We have went through tons of allergy testing with the kids, and may hopefully (fingers crossed) have an answer!!! We have moved again! We are still in Chicago, but are in a house that is much better for us. Jade is now in school and goes 5 days a week! She loves it! We are so lucky too. A dear friend of mine from kindergarden is her teacher! Small world! Josh's job is exciting as ever, and my yoga therapy practice is expanding quickly and it appears I will be quite busy in 2009! Zane is also changing and growing so fast. He's an awesome - funny - crazy child and we are enjoying watching him change so fast. "he's crazy!!!" We will be updating more freqently now that we are settled and not going anywhere for a while :)----we hope at least! never know with us though :)

Zane is One!

our baby boy turns one on the 5th of August! I can't believe that he is one. This year has been such an interesting year of ups and downs for our family, but it has flown by so fast.

Zane at one is walking a bit by himself. He is afraid to let go (which may be a good thing for me). He isn't talking at all!!! This is so weird for us, because Jade is a talking fool and always has been. He grunts like a mad-man, and squeals like a pig...but not one word at the age of 1 :) He's growing like crazy and will soon topple over Jade I do believe. His favorite toys are anything that Jade is currently playing with :)...and she hates it! He is such a boy though...in every way! He loves boys toys very much! wheels are so cool, he loves watching the cars out our window, the steering wheel of the car is the best for entertaining him :), and he also loves destroying things! That's probably the most fun for him :)

Our family has been so busy lately and that is why the site hasn't been updated as much. I took the kids to colorado to visit auntie kim and uncle jason and they really enjoyed themselves there. We were busy trying to see as many old friends that we could and so the days were very full and tiring :) Jade really enjoyed playing with Kim's baby (in her tummy), because baby "Sage" was kicking Jade "all the time".

The day we got back from Colorado our lives once again became crazy because mommy went into the hospital with kidney stones for 6 DAYS!! It was a horrible, long experience for all! Zane was quickly weaned, which has turned into a blessing in disguise, but was a very hard few days for him and Josh. He loves his goat milk and couldn't be happier now :)

Then after I returned home from the hospital, daddy went in for surgery! No stones for Josh though....just preventing future kids :) Jade and Zane had to endure a weekend of daddy in bed and mommy trying to recover. It's been a long few weeks for us to say the least. We were lucky to have some help through this though. That is one nice thing about living in the Midwest again. Thanks nanny and papa, gramma vicki and papa gary!

As you can see in the pictures, we have 2 amazing kids. They are happy, loud, crazy and adorable - if I do say so myself. This year has been great, and we are excited to see them continue to amaze us. See you all soon!

scissors.

Jade is awesome with artwork, and great with scissors... but hairstylist is not her thing :) Today Jade decided to get rid of "princess" hair and try something new. She came out of her playroom with her hair in her hand saying "mommy look I cut my hair". I smiled grabbed a quick shot with the camera and threw zane in the carrier and said "we're heading to the salon!". They had an opening right then and we went right away. They did a great job... actually an amazing job! She looks so "posh" :) I did come home and explain to her that we let someone else do the haircutting from now on. She said she understood---we all hope so :)

Update on Zane---he's great. He's growing up so fast and is such an amazing baby boy. You can tell in the photos that he's getting so big. Soon he will pass up Jade. He's starting to stand up on his own with no help and stand in place, so taking a step or two will be happening soon. He's such a boy! Into everything and exploring like crazy! He's a lot of fun.

So far this summer has been eventful. You can see in the photos that we have spent time with nanny and papa donovan and grama vicki. We took a trolley ride and boat trip with daddy's work, and have an eventful june/july with trips and weddings. We will update as fast as we can :) See you all soon.

8 months

Zane will be 8 months on the 5th, and is growing bigger and bigger :) He now has 2 teeth and is pulling himself up on everything he can find. The easter bunny was good to Jade. She is now pretending that she is the easter bunny around the house, hiding toys all over for zane to find. She was upset at the easter bunny today though...she stuck stickers all over her legs (that the easter bunny gave her) and the stickers reacted on her skin and made her start itching and breaking out in hives, and she said "the easter bunny gave her CORN stickers - he didn't know she can't have CORN". She's too funny :) (for those of you that don't know...yes corn is in stickers)

We are trying to enjoy our time here in Chicago, but we are missing the sunshine. Everyone keeps saying "it gets better in the summer" - so we are waiting :)

Crawling, standing, and teething!

A lot has been happening around our house. Jade and zane are very active and crazy :) Jade is adapting nicely to the new house and location and loves having visitors! Zane is now 7 months, and is quite the active boy! He started crawling right at 6 months, and has now decided that isn't fast enough for him, so he is now pulling himself up all over the house so he can stand up! crazy I know. My life will be very hard if he starts walking anytime soon.

Zane also got his first tooth after turning 6 months, and he appears to be getting his other bottom tooth, and his top gums are red, so they are close behind.

So sleeping...what is that word??? All of his activity, teething and the move have all played a part in the game we like to call "trying to sleep". I haven't gotten more than 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep in over 2 months now. It has been very hard. Zane is such a hungry guy that he wants to feel all night long!! He's now eating 3 meals a day solid foods, and is still feeding 4-5 times a night - augh... He is waking up completely famished. It's crazy.

Jade's favorite things to do right now are going to the library, reading books (dr suess is so fun!), playing with barbies and her dollhouse, and building houses and castles with cards. I have to say that I love playing with my daughter, but when she comes near me with her card deck, I just cringe inside. The game of building houses will go on forever if you let it. Our most favorite thing to do is watching cooking shows (food network is the best in our house) and then heading to the kitchen to make the items for dinner. It's quite the challenge trying to cook with all of our allergies and have it taste good, but jade and I are getting pretty good. We made a key lime pie the other day and it was milk free, wheat free, corn free, soy free and nut free...and tasted great! I think daddy had 3 pieces :)

ps---we had a wonderful experience tonight in the tub...jade has learned how to go underwater and hold her breath, so she was demonstrating it for daddy and I. She went way too slow dipping her chin, then her mouth, then her nose and eyes and then popped up, inhaled water up her nose, blew snot out and then threw up all over the tub and inches from josh's face. it was crazy! That is just a tip of the iceberg for the drama in this house :)

I will try and update the site more often. These two kids have taken all the free time from me :) take care.

Chicago is now home.

It's been hard to find the time to update the site lately because of our big move to the city. We are now settled in, and love our condo and our area that we are living in. Jade loves the new house. She thinks it is pretty cool. It's nice being in the city. So much to do, and lots to see. We took a trip to Michigan Avenue with the kids and went shopping on Saturday and we had a great time. Jade really enjoys shopping (lucky for us) and the sales clerks had a great time with her. She about floored me when she picked up Prada shoes and told me she had to have them...we are definitely not ready for that! I have updated the site with a few photos, but will have more soon. Take care and stay warm (it's a little hard getting use to this bitter cold weather!).

moving time!

Hello everyone. It's been a while since we have updated the site. Too much has been going on lately! We are packing up as we speak to move to Chicago. Some of you probably thought it was going to be California...but now it is Chicago. We will be living downtown, so it will be a fun new experience for everyone. Jade is doing really well with it. She's excited to see her new house, and be close to her grandparents and cousins! She said she can't wait to see her cousins again --aiden she loves you :)

You can also see in the photos that we went skiing with Josh's family up in Winter Park. That was great fun, and nice to have one last mountain experience before the move :( We will miss the mountains here. Jade keeps asking if there are mountains in Chicago...we just say "no honey, just buildings...and a lake"

We're definitely not going to Chicago for the weather (icy, cold snowy winters - hot humid summers - ick), but the experience will be good for us, and after that the sky is the limit for where we will end up! Warm sunny beaches anyone?

take care.

happy holidays!

We are enjoying the holiday season at the Meyer house! Kim and Adam hate the non-stop holiday music, but we love it (hey at this point we are happy to listen to anything but princess music :)

We just had a photo shoot done with a great photographer, so if you are interested in some photos, let us know!

We had a great thanksgiving with everyone over here. Jade loves having people stay the night, so she had a hard time when everyone had to go home. It was also a little rough on her because daddy had to fly out of town for 8 days! She really missed him. She's so happy to have him back, and santa on his way!

Zane is doing great! He's growing so well. We head to the doctor this week for his 4 month check-up, so we'll see how big he is now. He's so fun right now. He's always cooing, smiling or laughing (which he just started doing well). I just love kissing his cheeks. I want to mold a doll to mimic his chubby face because it's so amazing to touch! He's just so soft and cuddly :)

Happy Holidays!

Halloween!

We had such a great time with Halloween. This is a very hard holiday for a corn allergy, but Jade did awesome! We made our own candy for her to eat (homemade caramels, caramel apples, chocolate suckers, cookies), and she went trick-or-treating just like the other kids but got home and traded in her candy for special presents!

She had a great time. She's a great trick-or-treater. She even did a great job handing the candy (the candy that she got trick-or-treating...we are good recyclers) out to the treaters at our door.

Zane is doing great too. He is growing so fast! He is a big boy :) as I'm sure you can tell from the photos. He's smiling a lot at mommy and even tries talking with mommy through his coos. He's such a sweet little boy. We're amazed at the differences between him and Jade.

Zane is 2 months!

Zane had his 2 month visit and is almost double his birth weight already! He measured 11lbs 6oz! He's growing so fast we can't keep up with his clothing! It's sad to say there was a lot of clothing he never even wore, and others he could only wear once...and some for a couple hours :)

He's doing great though, and so is Jade. He's sleeping very well now, and so I am able to get a lot done during his naps. Nighttime is also going well. He is sleeping very well, and only gets up once at night to feed (but power eats in the morning).

Josh and I feel very busy now though. It is hard to get things done with 2 kids. I've had to get used to the house being a little more messy (a little) :)

Enjoy your weekend. it's time for Mommy to play Ponyville and tea time with Jade's princess dolls :)

october 02, 2007 11:15pm

Birthday is over.

Well, Jade is 3. She definitely got her fill of birthday celebrations this past weekend. 4 days of birthday will do that to a person :) She had a great time at her party, and loved having all of her friends here with her.

She was so excited about her cake, so that made me feel good. It was a long evening Saturday trying to make and decorate the cake, but it was all worth it when I saw her expression on her face.

We are all ready to relax now that her birthday is over. I think now we are going to do some fun landscaping around the house now that we don't have any plans coming up.

Zane is doing good. He goes to the doctor this week for his 2 month visit. I'm excited to see what he weighs, because he is porking up very quickly. Lately it hasn't been easy with him though. His poor tummy is so sensitive right now, so lots of foods are bothering him. I have been seeing a naturopath to find out what is causing the hives and the colic, and we found out he is also allergic to CORN (that darn vegetable) and cow's milk, but he is also very sensitive to the nightshade family (eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes). So needless to say, my diet is very slim. I can't eat - corn, dairy, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, green peppers, onions and garlic! whew...it's a lot, but he will be feeling better and so in turn...so will we :)

have a good week.

september 26, 2007 11:35pm

happy birthday to jade

Thursday the 27th is Jade's 3rd birthday! Everyone celebrate for Jade! Wear pink and think of her, and that will make Jade very happy :)

We are going to wake up and open presents, enjoy breakfast from daddy and then head to the zoo! She will have a blast I'm sure, and we will document the day as best as we can so you all can share in the day with us. She has a party this weekend with all of her friends, so it will be a full weekend full of birthday celebration for Miss Jade.

Fall is here.

Life has been so busy lately. We can't believe it's fall already. Jade has started her dance classes and loves them! She is so cute in class, and quite the dancer (but we all knew that already). All day long she is dancing and singing to her princess music. It's amazing to watch her, she is so talented.

We were in Illinois for a week and she was able to meet her second cousins. She bonded with them very quickly and still asks when she can play with them again. The trip flew by so quickly, but it was wonderful to see everyone we could. The midwest is so different then Colorado, and Jade picked up on that. She was able to see her first lightening bug and that was very cool for her! The humidity was miserable for us though :) We are definitely glad to not have that around us all the time.

Zane has been doing great. He is porking up so fast :) Jade was always such a tiny baby, but he is getting some rolls already. He's a solid little man and loves to eat :)

Mommy and daddy are busy as ever. Mommy had her first 3 days alone with the kids while daddy was away for work and that went well considering she was also suffering from another episode of mastitis. We are hoping that she doesn't have to go through any more rounds of that.

We have begun our fall project of finishing the landscaping of our house. With the beautiful weather it feels great to be outside with the family enjoying the fresh air before the first snow comes. We are hoping to slow down a bit after Jade's birthday party. We feel like we have been on the go for too long now.

Stay posted to the site to see photos from Jade's birthday. We are all very excited to see her expression at her party. She's been waiting for her birthday for months now. Mommy is also tackling a barbie cake this year. She has had to take on the role of cake decorator now because of Jade's allergy. We'll post photos of the cake (assuming it turns out ok).

Enjoy Fall, take care.

Our family of four

Since Zane arrived, everything has been going pretty well. Jade is a great big sister, but does require a lot of attention (even more attention then normal). Jade has gotten a lot louder and yells constantly---Mommy watch me...Look at me...etc. We are trying our hardest to give her the attention she needs and deserves, so she does not feel left out with the new baby.

Zane is doing great. He's growing quickly. At his 1 week visit he had already surpassed his birth weight, and I can tell that he is quite a bit bigger than that now. So far he is a very good baby. He is still in the wonderful newborn stage of sleeping and eating, so that makes our lives easier. Zane has a pretty big trademark already though...he is a grunter. He sounds like an old car trying to start up most of the time (at least he doesn't cry much).

Mommy and daddy are doing pretty good. I have noticed bags appearing under my eyes, but I am trying to rest up as much as I can. It is great having Josh working from home because he is able to help out by putting Jade down for her nap while I rest with Zane. I did get hit hard with Mastitis (breastfeeding infection) during the first couple weeks home with Zane. I finally had to get on antibiotics to knock out the infection, and I feel great.

We hope to see you all soon. Keep checking back to see more photos of our growing family. I will try to update as much as I can. Time is getting harder and harder to find lately.

Zane T. Meyer : Born August 5th

Zane made his arrival at 3:59am on August 5th, 2007. It has been a very long pregnancy, but in the end we have a healthy 6.1 pound, 19 inch long baby boy.

We went to the hospital at 10pm on August 4th and found out that I was 4cm dilated. I thought my contractions were 7min apart, but the monitor said they were coming every 2-5 min. At this point they weren't too uncomfortable so we took a walk around the hospital to pass the time.

My contractions slowly started building and I was suffering from Back Labor, so we had the epidural inserted to take the edge off. Drugs like this really effect me and I lost all feeling from the waist down (same thing happened with Jade). It's very uncomfortable to not be able to lift your legs, but the pain was definitely gone from the contractions.

My labor progressed very well throughout the night and when my body was nearing the 10cm mark I started experiencing severe nausea (just as I did with Jade). I asked the nurse for the bucket to throw up in, and when I leaned over to throw up Josh yelled at the nurse that something was coming out! I looked into the mirror and saw the head poking out. I then leaned over again to throw up and had the nurse running over telling me to STOP (but who can stop) and when I threw up the next time I watched Zane come flying out with the doctor coming in just in time to grab the legs.

It was an amazing experience to see and I was a great way for me to deliver. He came out so fast and easy that I have no tears and no swelling, so recovery is much better than with Jade.

He is doing really good since we brought him home and Jade loves him dearly. She is a great big sister and will be a big help for mommy. We will continue to update the site with photos, so keep checking back to see him grow-up.

july 18, 2007 02:25pm

hanging in there.

This has been a long very hot summer so far! I am still pregnant and I am 34 weeks along! My doctor appointment this week showed that I was 90% effaced and 1cm dilated. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for me to open up further to start labor. I'm still contracting all the time, with the contractions getting increasingly more uncomfortable and painful. I received the steriods to help his lungs develop last week, so hopefully if he is born soon he will be healthy.

It's been a long pregnancy this time around. I can move around more now since I have reached a safe zone for the baby. It's been 10 weeks since all of this modified bedrest started. We are all ready to get moving again :)

Jade is doing great with all of this. Nanny is still here, playing with her, taking her to the park and coloring! Jade will have a big adjustment when Nanny leaves and the baby comes. She is very excited to be a big sister, but she also does not understand what that actually means.

She is growing up so fast...and getting to be such a big girl. Her vocabulary is growing so fast. She speaks like a little adult anymore. Princesses are still very big in her life, and she loves wearing princess dresses everyday! She also can't wait until her hair grows long so she can have princess hair, as she calls it.

We will continue to keep everyone posted on the arrival of baby Zane. We imagine he will be making his entrance into the world in the next couple weeks. Stay posted on the site for details!

Welcome!

Welcome to the new site of Jade (& her future brother Zane). We decided to create a new site for both of them, and one that is even easier for me to update to I can keep it updated with 2 kids running around.

Jade is very excited to meet her new brother. As you can tell, we have decided to name him Zane when he makes his arrival. He will be named Zane T. Meyer after his great grandpa I.T. West and his late uncle Zachary Thomas Meyer (Z.T.M.). We are very anxious for his arrival, but are trying hard to keep him inside until closer to the due date of August 30th.

I have been contracting since 24 weeks, and have already made 2 labor & delivery visits for contractions being 5min apart. I am now on bedrest, and my mom has generously offered to come out and spend the summer with us helping out with our crazy Jade!

The doctors are watching me closely (every week) to see what my cervix does. And they have measured the baby and found out he is above schedule and currently weighs 2.3 lbs. That’s great news in case I go into pre-term labor before 30 weeks.

You will see in the photos how much personality Jade-Lyn has, and how much she has grown up. She amazes us everyday with something she does or says.

She is quite humorous. Right now her favorite things to do are Art (coloring, painting, drawing) and puzzles! We do puzzles all day long! She also loves games! Number and Abc games – Memory!! I told her that uncle Jason was coming over this weekend, and first thing out of her mouth was - Uncle Jason play memory with me?. (I know Jason will be looking forward to that)

Well we hope you enjoy the site. Keep checking back to see Jade’s new photos, and when Zane makes his arrival!

Take care.

Jade bonked her toe

Jade is feeling better now, and so are we! In case you didn't know, Jade went to the emergency room last week for a fall. She fractured her 2nd toe, and popped out 2 toe nails.

She had to have stitches to put the nails back in and was in horrible amounts of pain. She's now walking around again and is off her pain meds. She's healing wonderfully, and the stitches should be gone soon.

I wish I could say this is my first and last trip to the emergency room, but with a boy on the way (and Josh's genes in their blood)---I know that isn't true!
